Bruce Alexander: The Next Chapter
Congratulations to VELA’s very own Bruce Alexander! Bruce recently accepted a position as Assistant Coach for the Victoria Shamrocks!
In light of this milestone, we’d like to take the opportunity to look back on his decorated lacrosse career.
Bruce started it all in 1979 as a Mini Tyke at VELA (he still has the championship trophy).
Bruce went on to score 73 goals and recorded 172 assists in his 138-game career with the Syracuse Smash, Ottawa Rebel, Montreal Express, Calgary Roughnecks, Vancouver Ravens, Portland LumberJax and Edmonton Rush. He began playing during the 1999 season and last took the field during the 2010 campaign.
Let’s not forget those Mann Cup wins from 1997, 1999, 2003.
He continues to support the local lacrosse community as a box and field coach, and as Head Coach of our association, where he mentors new coaches. We’re excited to see Bruce take on this new chapter and look forward to seeing where he goes from here!
